How to Measure Your Roof
Measuring your roof for a green roof is simple with the right information. If you have architectural drawings or build plans, start there—they’ll give you accurate dimensions without needing to access the roof. If not, you can measure manually using a tape measure, measuring wheel, or, for larger commercial roofs, a laser measurer.
Be sure to measure the usable roof area:
Measure inside any parapets or upstands.
Deduct the space taken up by rooflights, vents, chimneys, and other obstacles.
If you plan to include pebble borders or firebreaks, subtract these from the total green roof area as well.
Remember to convert any measurements in feet to metres, as our products are sold in m². We also recommend adding 5–10% extra to your order to allow for cutting around roof features and ensuring full coverage.
If you’d like help confirming your measurements, our team is always happy to assist.
Delivery Information
Our S-Pod tray is a living product, so we ship via next-day delivery in order to protect plant health and ensure they arrive in peak condition.
Typical lead times are around three days, though this can vary seasonally—if you’d like an up-to-date lead time or wish to arrange a specific future delivery date, just give us a call.
Deliveries are made through the national pallet network, meaning exact time slots are difficult to predict; your order will arrive between 9am and 4:30pm, and someone must be on site to receive it.
The trays arrive stacked and securely strapped on wooden pallets and will be offloaded using a tail lift.
As a living system, our trays should be unstacked and installed on the day of delivery to ensure their long-term survival.
If there are any access challenges at your site, please let us know in advance so we can brief the driver to ensure a smooth delivery.
Collecting your order:
Prefer to collect your order yourself? No problem. If you’re a tradesperson arriving in a truck, transit or van, we can stack, strap and load your trays directly onto your vehicle using our forklift, or handball them on if you’d prefer. For smaller orders collected in a day-to-day car, we recommend folding down the seats to maximise space and laying a waterproof sheet or tarpaulin in the boot, as the sedum trays can release water in transit. Because we’re not always on site and each order needs preparing in advance, it’s essential that you book your collection slot—please contact us at least a couple of days before you plan to arrive so we can have everything ready for you. We generally accept collections from 9am-4pm, Monday to Friday.
